Hilliard

Hilliard was founded in 1853 and was originally known as Hilliard's Station. It was named after John Reed Hilliard, who owned the original town site. The Franklin County Fairgrounds, located in Hilliard, host the annual Franklin County Fair. It's one of the oldest county fairs in Ohio, dating back to the early 1900s.

Hilliard has a charming historic district with preserved buildings, giving visitors a glimpse into its past. The district includes the Original Hilliard Historic Village, featuring 10 historic buildings. The Hilliard Historical Society operates the Historical Village and hosts events to promote the town's history and heritage.

The town's growth was influenced by its location along the railroad line. The presence of the railroad contributed to its development as a transportation hub.

The Heritage Rail Trail is a recreational trail that runs through Hilliard and follows the path of a former railroad line. It's a popular route for walking, jogging, and biking.

The Hilliard Arts Council is an active group promoting and supporting the arts through performances, exhibits, and community events.

The Hilliard Farm Market offers a variety of locally grown produce, artisanal goods, and handmade crafts during the growing season. Aside from the Farm Market, Hilliard hosts various events such as the Old Hilliard fest Art and Street Fair, which showcases local artists, musicians, and businesses.
